Trichodiadema marlothii
R45,00
Trichodiadema marlothii is a small, shrubby succulent admired for its dense branching habit and distinctive “crown-tipped” leaves. The plant forms low, woody-based clusters of slender stems that spread outward over time. As a result, it develops a compact, bushy structure that works well in arid and rock garden settings.
It is native to South Africa, particularly the arid and semi-arid regions of the Western and Northern Cape, where it grows in rocky, well-drained soils. In addition, it is highly adapted to drought, heat, and strong sunlight.
The leaves are the most recognisable feature. They are small, fleshy, and cylindrical to slightly club-shaped, each tipped with a tiny crown of white, bristle-like hairs (the “diadem”). In addition, the foliage is typically green to grey-green and may develop a slight bluish tint under strong light. Consequently, the plant has a textured, sparkling appearance when viewed up close.
The flowers are daisy-like and usually pink to purplish-pink, opening in bright light and standing out clearly against the fine foliage.
