Neoregelia ‘Shelldance’

R95,00

Neoregelia ‘Shelldance’ is a striking bromeliad admired for its sculptural rosette and soft shell-like colouring. The plant forms a wide, flat star-shaped rosette of broad, slightly arching leaves. These leaves are green with creamy white to pale yellow variegation, often flushed with pink or soft red toward the centre. As a result, the plant has a gentle but highly decorative appearance.

During its bloom cycle, the central cup develops stronger pink to red tones. In addition, small flowers appear deep inside the rosette, although they are usually hidden. The main attraction remains the patterned foliage, which shifts in intensity depending on light levels.

Plant Essentials

Light: Bright, indirect light for best colour

Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity
Soil: Well-draining bromeliad or orchid mix
Growth: Flat, rosette-forming bromeliad
Best for: Pots, indoor displays, and tropical plant collections

Growing Notes

Neoregelia ‘Shelldance’ thrives in warm, humid conditions with steady airflow. Additionally, it benefits from clean, fresh water in the central cup, which should be replaced regularly. Avoid waterlogged soil, as this can cause root issues over time.

Protect from harsh midday sun
Although it tolerates bright conditions, strong direct sun can scorch the soft variegated leaves. Therefore, filtered light or morning sun with light afternoon shade is ideal to maintain colour and leaf health.
