Neoregelia pauciflora

R65,00

Neoregelia pauciflora is a compact bromeliad admired for its narrow, arching foliage and elegant rosette form. The plant produces a dense rosette of slender green leaves, often marked with darker banding or subtle mottling depending on growing conditions. As a result, it forms a neat, graceful display that works especially well in smaller spaces or mounted collections.

It is native to Brazil, where it grows in warm, humid forest environments as an epiphytic bromeliad. In addition, it naturally grows attached to trees where airflow and drainage are excellent.

The flowers are small and tucked deep within the centre of the rosette. However, the inner leaves often develop reddish to pink flushing as the plant matures and approaches flowering. Consequently, the colourful centre becomes the main visual feature rather than the blooms themselves.

Plant Essentials

Light: Bright, indirect light for best colour
Water: Keep central cup filled with fresh water
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity
Soil: Well-draining bromeliad or orchid mix
Growth: Small tank-forming epiphytic bromeliad
Best for: Mounted displays, terrariums, and indoor collections

Growing Notes

Neoregelia pauciflora thrives in warm, humid conditions with excellent airflow. Additionally, the central cup should be refreshed regularly with clean water to prevent stagnation. Roots mainly serve as anchors, so overly wet soil should be avoided.

Protect from harsh midday sun
Although it enjoys bright light, intense direct midday sun can scorch the narrow leaves. Therefore, filtered light or gentle morning sun is ideal.
