Euphorbia neococcinea
R65,00
Euphorbia neococcinea is a striking succulent shrub admired for its upright, branching growth and colourful stem tones. The plant develops clusters of angular, ribbed stems that range from green to reddish-green, often intensifying in colour under strong sunlight. As a result, it forms a bold, sculptural display with strong architectural character.
It is native to South Africa, where it grows in dry, rocky habitats with excellent drainage and seasonal rainfall. In addition, it is highly adapted to heat, drought, and bright light conditions.
The stems are the main ornamental feature. They are typically ribbed with short paired spines along the margins, creating texture and structure throughout the plant. In addition, stress colouring from bright light may bring out deeper reddish or bronze tones in the stems. Consequently, mature plants develop a dramatic, multi-toned appearance even when not flowering.
The flowers are small yellow-green cyathia, produced near the stem tips. However, they are secondary to the colourful stems and sculptural growth habit.
