Euphorbia aggregata

R45,00

Euphorbia aggregata is a distinctive and hardy succulent native to the Eastern Cape, South Africa. It is well-suited for South African gardens and rockeries, offering a visually striking and resilient addition to any landscape. This plant forms a dense, cushion-like mass with its spiny, free-branching stems, making it a unique focal point in any garden setting.

Key Features:
Cushion-Like Growth: Euphorbia aggregata grows into a low, tufted cushion composed of hundreds of tightly packed heads. This dense growth habit creates a striking visual effect, particularly in rock gardens or as a ground cover.
Spiny Stems: The plant’s stems are covered in sharp spines, adding both texture and protection from herbivores. These spines contribute to the plant’s distinctive appearance and make it an excellent choice for adding structure to a garden.
Native Habitat: Found naturally on the stony slopes of the Eastern Cape, from North of Grahamstown to Somerset East and Graaff-Reinet, this plant is adapted to thrive in South Africa’s sunny and dry conditions.

Care Requirements:

Light: Prefers full sun to partial shade. Ample sunlight ensures healthy growth and maintains the plant’s compact form.
Water: Requires minimal watering. Let the soil dry out completely between waterings, particularly during the winter months. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
Soil: Thrives in well-draining, sandy or rocky soils. A succulent or cactus mix is ideal to prevent water retention.
Temperature: Best suited to temperatures between 18-30°C. The plant is tolerant of heat but should be protected from frost.
Propagation: Easily propagated through cuttings. Allow the cuttings to dry for a few days before planting to avoid rot.
