Epiphyllum ‘Pink Parrot’

R65,00

Epiphyllum ‘Pink Parrot’ is a striking hybrid epiphyllum (often called an orchid cactus) prized for its dramatic, tropical-looking blooms and easy-care nature.

Description
Epiphyllum ‘Pink Parrot’ produces large, flamboyant flowers in vibrant shades of hot pink to deep rose, often with ruffled or feathered petals that resemble a parrot’s plumage—hence the name. The blooms are showy, fragrant in the evening, and can reach up to 15–20 cm across. The plant itself has flat, segmented, leaf-like stems that trail or arch gracefully, making it ideal for hanging baskets or pots on shelves.

Growth Habit

  • Epiphytic, cactus-like plant

  • Trailing to semi-upright stems

  • Excellent for hanging containers

Flowering

  • Typically blooms in spring to early summer

  • Flowers last several days

  • Mature plants may produce multiple blooms in a season

Care Requirements

  • Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid harsh direct sun

  • Water: Water regularly during active growth; allow soil to partially dry between watering

  • Soil: Well-draining, airy mix (orchid bark, perlite, and cactus mix works well)

  • Humidity: Enjoys moderate to high humidity

  • Temperature: Prefers warm conditions; protect from frost

  • Special Notes
Epiphyllum ‘Pink Parrot’ is low-maintenance and very rewarding once established. Slight stress from cooler nights or reduced watering in winter often encourages better flowering.
