Euphorbia schinzii

R65,00

Euphorbia schinzii is a fascinating succulent species admired for its unusual underground growth habit and rugged, sculptural stems. The plant produces low, spreading grey-green to green stems with subtle ridges and small paired spines along the edges. Because much of the plant grows close to or slightly beneath the soil surface, it has a unique, almost hidden appearance that makes it especially interesting to collectors.

During the growing season, mature plants may produce small yellow-green cyathia near the stem tips. Although the flowers are tiny, they add seasonal interest and contrast beautifully against the muted stem colour. Its hardy nature and drought tolerance make it an excellent choice for succulent enthusiasts looking for something unusual.

Growing Notes

Euphorbia schinzii thrives in bright conditions and excellent drainage. Additionally, it prefers dry conditions and careful watering, especially during winter dormancy. Allow the soil to dry fully before watering again to help prevent rot.

Protect from harsh midday sun
Although this species enjoys strong light, intense South African midday sun can stress exposed stems during extreme heat. Therefore, morning sun with light afternoon shade is ideal in very hot regions.
