Euphorbia polyacantha
R65,00
Euphorbia polyacantha is a striking leafless, spiny succulent shrub that makes a bold statement in South African gardens. Originating from Ethiopia, Sudan, Eritrea, and the Arabian Peninsula, it adds an exotic touch with its unique structure.
Key Features:
- Leafless Structure: Euphorbia polyacantha lacks leaves and instead features numerous, densely spiny, erect branches that form a dense, rounded or almost flat crown.
- Spiny Branches: Its branches are covered in prominent spines, creating a distinctive and rugged appearance.
- Flowering: Small, yellow-green cyathia appear between the pairs of spines at the angles of the stems, adding subtle colour contrast.
- Growth Habit: The shrub typically has little or no clear trunk, with branches densely packed to form a rounded or flat-topped crown.
Care Requirements:
- Light: Prefers full sun to partial shade. Adequate sunlight helps maintain its vibrant appearance and promotes healthy growth.
- Water: Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. It is well-suited to dry conditions and is drought-tolerant.
- Soil: Thrives in well-draining, sandy or rocky soil. Ensure excellent drainage to avoid root rot.
- Temperature: Best suited for temperatures between 15-30°C. Protect from frost and extreme cold.
- Humidity: Prefers low humidity, making it ideal for arid and semi-arid environments.
Dimensions: Typically reaches 50-80cm and spreads 50-60cm
Plants on offer: 6-10cm rooted. Shipped without pot or soil.
